STATION SOUND SERIES: Part 2
The Station Museum of Contemporary Art announces another evening of experimental sound and musical performances on Wednesday, April 19th starting at 6:30 p.m.
Atrium (Anisa Boukhlif and Rebecca Novak) explores the relationships of self to environment through an improvised music duo of trumpet and laptop/cornet and Autoharp: shifting sands, distant thunder, ceramic ohms, muted maps, handball contact, rain pattered leaves, hovering sky filled light.
Mike Abramowitz will be performing hardcore acoustic flip flop electronic cardiology second hand fever dream lullabies spoken word glitchplop country crooning frequency tuning.
Daed aka Ian Lambert is a Houston-based electronic musician and sound designer. He is internationally recognized for his genre-pushing IDM, acid, braindance, and glitchcore. Daed’s music is characterized by his innovative sound design, intricate sample editing, playful melodies and evolving atmospheres.
B L A C K I E is an American musician and record producer based in Houston active since 2005. His experimental style combines jazz, hip hop, hardcore punk, noise, industrial and electronic under a DIY ethos and has been described as equal parts messed-up electronics, distorted pop-cult samples, guitar feedback, video game noise, and angry-as-hell street flow.
Houston based multi-instrumentalist (piano, drums, viola) composer and improviser Abel Cisneros will be using found objects, drums and bowed cymbals in an improvised duo with Danny Kamins. Abel Cisneros has performed at the Menil Collection, Diverse Works, Timuca Arts White House, and the Atlantic Center for the Arts; he has worked with Karl Berger, Marilyn Crispell and David Dove.
Danny Kamins is a saxophonist and bass clarinetist based out of Houston. He performs in a wide variety of styles, including jazz, rock, classical, and avant- garde. His current projects include the improvised music projects Etched In The Eye and CARL. He is also a lecturer in jazz at Rice University’s Shepherd School of Music, and runs two jazz ensembles at Rice; the Rice University Big Band and the Rice University Jazz Octet.
